(VANCOUVER) 8 MAY 2019: Students at Lambton College installed solar drip irrigation systems at schools in Zambia, Africa, providing a varied diet to students using clean, solar energy.

Enactus Lambton College has been named the 2019 Scotiabank Environmental Challenge National Champion by this country’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and proud program supporter Scotiabank. The national competition took place at the 2019 Enactus Canada National Exposition in Vancouver.

Enactus Lambton’s drip irrigation system is helping feed 750 children in the 2nd most undernourished country in the world, while also providing access to clean water.

“Every Enactus team that participated in the Scotiabank Environmental Challenge has played an important role in making the world more sustainable,” says Lesly Tayes, Regional Senior Vice President – BC & Yukon, Scotiabank. “Our involvement with Enactus is unique in that it allows us to help young people reach their infinite potential, while also driving measurable environmental change in Canadian and global communities.”

The Scotiabank Environmental Challenge is a national competition empowering post-secondary students to develop and deliver projects that teach others viable solutions to relevant environmental issues. In the last year 1,250 Enactus students delivered over 64 environmental projects.

“We are continually inspired by the innovation Enactus students bring to this challenge,” says Nicole Almond, President of Enactus Canada. “Thank you to Enactus Lambton College and every other team that participated in this competition for the work you’ve done to make our country sustainable for the long-term.”
