(VANCOUVER) 8 MAY 2019: Students at the University of Alberta are increasing high-school and post-secondary students’ financial literacy and employability skills through their Project NextStep.

Enactus University of Alberta has been named the 2019 Scotiabank Youth Empowerment Challenge National Champion by this country’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and program supporter Scotiabank. The national competition took place at the 2019 Enactus Canada National Exposition in Vancouver.

This year, through Project NextStep, the Enactus University of Alberta Team has delivered 21 workshops to high school and post-secondary students across Edmonton, empowering over 270 youth to make better decisions, more informed decisions about their futures.

The Scotiabank Youth Empowerment Challenge is a national competition that encourages post-secondary students to develop and deliver projects that address the needs and opportunities facing youth. Focused on education, learning skills and supporting the life-long success of youth aged 25 and under, this challenge engaged 1,600 students this year, who impacted more than 20,000 youth through 90 community empowerment projects.
