When Dharm Patel shows up for work each morning at RBC Royal Bank, he remembers the road that took him there.

Dharm was first introduced to a RBC recruiter on his campus at SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute for Technology), but was really able to solidify that relationship when he met her again that year at the 2012 Enactus Canada National Exposition in Calgary.

They were able to speak for some time at the National Exposition and when they met for a third time back on the SAIT campus, she was hiring for a job in which he was very interested – Account Manager, Customer Service Representative.

Dharm got that very job at RBC because of the relationship he was able to cultivate through Enactus, and the skills he learned at Enactus SAIT were instrumental in preparing him for his role.

“Enactus has made me more outgoing, confident, not afraid to ask questions,” says Dharm. “As VP, Enactus SAIT, managing the team really helped to develop my leadership, time management and communication skills.”

As if they were not enough, Enactus gave Dharm something even beyond skills and connections. His experience with Enactus inspired him to motivate his colleagues at his RBC branch, bringing the team together to help with the clean-up of Calgary after the recent flood. The group cleared debris and helped families in Calgary clean up their homes.

It is this strong commitment to community involvement that makes RBC a company with whom Dharm is proud to work. Meanwhile it is Dharm’s passion for community involvement that makes him a good fit.

Indeed, Enactus brought Dharm to RBC. Then, Dharm showed RBC what it means to live Enactus.
