(TORONTO) 1 Jun 2020 – Paisley Nyberg, student at Concordia University, was named the 2020 Student Leader of the Year by Canada’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and program partner, Canadian Tire Corporation Ltd.

Under Paisley’s presidency, Enactus Concordia ran six projects, won four project accelerator grants, hosted three entrepreneurship workshops, two major events and earned a regional champion title in the youth empowerment category. She also turned her passion for teaching high school students financial literacy skills into Eduquo, a financial literacy project dedicated to redefining the status quo of financial literacy in Quebec by introducing real-world simulations, critical thinking and providing resources and tools to students. In just one year, Enactus Concordia successfully impacted over 20,000 individuals, thanks to her inspiring leadership.

The Student Leader of the Year is designed to recognize the Student Leader (President) who has made the most outstanding contribution to their Enactus team, supporting and advancing the team’s success. The award announcement took place through the 2020 Virtual Enactus Canada National Exposition.

“As one of Canada’s most trusted and iconic brands, we build teams that dream big and work as one to deliver world-class customer experiences. Enactus is doing the same through their programming, and we are proud to recognize Paisley for her achievements,” said Jason Blanchette, Vice President, Planning and Promotions, Canadian Tire Corporation. “The Student Leader of the Year award that we support through Enactus is an extension of our commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders in Canada.”

“At Enactus, our core mission is to empower the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders,” said Enactus Canada president, Nicole Almond. “Paisley Nyberg exemplifies the qualities we hope to inspire in our future leaders so we are proud to celebrate her achievements with this award.”

The Enactus Canada National Exposition unites 1,500 delegates including the country’s brightest university and college students, academic professionals and top Canadian CEOs to enable progress by supporting entrepreneurial action through competition, recognition and education.
