(TORONTO) May 10, 2022: A team of students from Durham College empowered 800 young entrepreneurs to help change the world through Connect Us for Community this past year alone. CU4C is a high-impact educational program that mentors high school student clubs to develop projects guided by the 17 United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
Enactus Durham College was awarded the 2022 RBC Future Launch Project Accelerator Best Project title today at the 2022 Enactus Canada National Exposition Opening Ceremony.
The RBC Future Launch Project Accelerator is designed to empower Enactus teams with the resources needed to identify, create, and deliver projects that help young Canadians prepare for a drastically changing workforce through work readiness skill development. Since its launch in 2019, the Project Accelerator has supported 72 projects at 42 schools across Canada, as part of RBC Future Launch.
RBC Future Launch is a decade-long, $500 million commitment to empowering Canadian youth for the jobs of tomorrow. RBC is committed to acting as a catalyst for change, bringing government, educators, public sector and not-for-profits together to co-create solutions to help young people better prepare for the future of the work through practical work experience, skills development, networking and access to mental well-being supports and services. In 2020, we committed to investing $50 million from now to 2025 through RBC Future Launch to create meaningful and transformative pathways to prosperity for up to 25,000 BIPOC youth with investments in areas such as skills development and mentoring.
“Providing these resources, stoking the fires of creativity in this generation of important leaders, is the perfect example of RBC Future Launch in action,” said Valerie Chort, Vice President, Corporate Citizenship & Sustainability, RBC. “We are proud to partner with these young Canadians to support them in building a future that they are proud to lead.”
The Enactus Canada National Exposition unites hundreds of delegates including the country’s brightest university and college students, academic professionals and top Canadian CEOs to enable progress by supporting entrepreneurial action through competition, recognition and education.
