(HALIFAX) 17 March 2017 – In addition to leading her Enactus team of 30 students, Lydia Broderick volunteers with Acadia’s Girls Night Out program, which encourages young girls to participate in physical activity. Lydia Phillip, another Enactus volunteer, also works as a glider pilot instructor where she teaches students aged 15-17 how to pilot gliders.

Lydia Broderick, a student at Acadia University and Lydia Phillip, from Mount Allison University, received the 2017 HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow award for Atlantic Canada from Canada’s largest experiential learning platform, Enactus Canada, and HSBC Bank Canada. The award presentation took place at the 2017 Enactus Canada Regional Exposition March 16 in Halifax.

The HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow award is designed to recognize, celebrate and honor female university and college students – on a regional and national level – who exemplify success and inspire their peers, community and country through entrepreneurial leadership.

“Diversity in business is a key success driver,” said Nicole Almond, President of Enactus Canada. “As Canada’s largest student leadership development organization, we are proud to work with our partners to recognize and encourage emerging female leaders across Canada.”

Broderick and Phillip are two of six regional award winners from across Canada who will travel to the 2017 Enactus Canada National Exposition in May with the hopes of being named the national 2017 HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow.

Additionally, Broderick and Phillip, along with the top 50 award applicants from across the country will also be invited to attend the exclusive HSBC Women’s Leadership Forum at the 2017 Enactus Canada National Exposition. The annual forum will unite top entrepreneurial female leaders to encourage open dialogue, build leadership aptitude, and establish connections among generations of strong female leaders.
