DSC_4404During his time as a student on the Wilfrid Laurier University Enactus team, Kyle Marancos made many memories. One of his most favourite is of his trip to Egypt to spread Laurier’s Create a Candy project to help kids across Egypt learn marketing fundamentals with candy!

When applying for a coop position at Unilever, Kyle was confident in his abilities but it was his Enactus experience that landed him the job. When asked to provide scenarios where he showcased specific skills, Kyle explains “My Enactus experience gave me all of my best examples and stories.”

Kyle started his coop placement at Unilever Canada in 2002 and was hired full time in 2004.  Throughout his time at Unilever Canada, Kyle has worked on a range of marketing projects. Currently, as a Senior Brand Development Manager, he is ultimately responsible for driving profitable growth for a segment of Unilever’s portfolio by creating brand strategies, launching innovation and developing breakthrough communications.

The thing Kyle enjoys most about the work he does as a marketer at Unilever is the balance between being creative and analytical, which allows him to use both sides of his brain.

“Our markets and consumers are constantly changing, every day is different and the job is always interesting,” says Kyle.

Kyle says there are four main reasons why Unilever Canada is a great place to work; amazing people, the opportunity to work on a broad range of categories/brands, best in class training/development and the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan (USLP), which puts sustainability at the heart of their business model.

“Enactus has opened many doors for me and it was a critical part in how I earned a job at Unilever,” says Kyle. “Everyone in your class gets a similar academic experience, but Enactus gives you the opportunity to differentiate yourself with leadership development experiences that go well beyond the classroom.”
