(TORONTO) 14 March 2018 – This country’s largest post-secondary experiential learning platform, Enactus Canada, kicks off its 2018 National Exposition today at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The three-day event celebrates the entrepreneurial action university and college student teams across Canada have taken to improve communities and change lives for the better.
“In our 30 years of operation, we’ve seen tremendous growth in our network and the impact our students are having on their communities,” says Nicole Almond, President of Enactus Canada. “The innovation and conscious capitalism we see in our students gives us tremendous confidence in the next generation of leaders and how they will evolve the Canadian business landscape for the better.”
The Enactus Canada National Exposition brings together over 1,500 university and college students, academic professionals, executives and entrepreneurs from across the country who are passionate about advancing the social, economic and environmental health of our country through entrepreneurial action.
The three-day National Exposition recognizes and rewards students that are taking action to drive hundreds of life-changing projects in their communities. Whether tackling food insecurity or providing financial education to people in need, student teams will share the impact of their projects to panels of business executives serving as judges. Last year alone, more than 70,000 people gained access to a sustainable and adequate food supply, and 586 new business launched thanks to Enactus students.
Six team-based competitions will take place focused on creating measurable impact, social enterprise development, financial education, environmental sustainability, youth empowerment and entrepreneurship.
Further, 12 national student entrepreneur finalists will pitch their business and vie for the chance to be named Student Entrepreneur National Champion and take home $10,000.
