(TORONTO, ON) April 11, 2022: Twelve post-secondary students that manage both a full-time course load and a business have been selected to pitch their businesses for a chance to win $10,000 through the Student Entrepreneur National Competition, proudly presented by HSBC Bank Canada. Finalists will compete in an opening round of competition at the 2022 Enactus Canada National Exposition, taking place virtually  May 11, 2022. The top four finalists will then be flown to Toronto to compete live this fall.  

The 12 finalists are: 

Danielle Lowe, owner of Doodlebug Pet Food and student at University of Victoria
Doodlebug Pet Food creates revolutionary cricket-based dog treats for pet parents who want to feed their dogs like family. Doodlebugs are nutritious, sustainable, and hypoallergenic. 

Dhruv Patel, owner of Beam Commerce and student at University of Waterloo
Beam Commerce builds software that helps eCommerce merchants boost their revenue using personalized offers. 

Domenic Mazzuca, owner of Maple Mountain and student at George Brown College
Maple Mountain is a proudly Canadian cooler company that has changed the way you grab an ice-cold drink. 

Ghalia Aamer, owner of TalkMaze and student at University of Alberta
TalkMaze connects schools and individuals with professional public speaking and debate training. 

Jamieson Fregeau, owner of Quandri and student at University of Victoria
Quandri builds intelligent software robots, or what we call digital workers, to automate high-volume repetitive processes for companies. 

Kashif Khan, owner of PLAKK and student at McGill University
PLAKK envisions a world without strokes. Their artificial intelligence-powered platform is the first to combine artificial intelligence with ultrasound technology and clinical information from patients, to provide a higher diagnostic accuracy of atherosclerosis and subsequent risk for stroke. 

Keith Cleland, owner of Aqua-Cell Energy Inc. and student at University of Waterloo
Aqua-Cell Energy is revolutionizing energy storage with safe, affordable, long life, and sustainable energy storage solutions. 

Lianna Genovese, owner of ImaginAble Solutions and student at McMaster University
ImaginAble Solutions creates assistive devices to improve the quality of life for people living with limited motor movement. ImaginAble’s international award-winning product, Guided Hands, is an assistive device that enables people living with limited hand mobility to write, paint, draw and use touch-screen devices. 

Lucy Newman, owner of Newkini Swimwear and student at Mount Allison University
Newkini is a hand-made luxury swimwear brand that provides flattering cuts for every body type, while infusing the latest fashion trends into swimwear without sacrificing functionality. 

Nicole Odo, owner of Saorsa Studio and student at University of New Brunswick – Fredericton
Saorsa Studio provides high-quality highland dance instruction from qualified professionals to instill a love of dance while inspiring a strong work ethic, dedication, and discipline. 

Sarah Lambert, owner of Ora Medical and student at Polytechnique Montreal
Ora Medical is a health-tech company set to revolutionize physical rehabilitation for people with walking disabilities by enabling patients to reach their highest potential mobility anywhere, at any time. 

Shreyansh Anand, owner of WaiveTheWait Inc. and student at Queen’s University
WaiveTheWait is a patient engagement company that optimizes clinic operations by automating patient communications such as complex outreach workflows, recalling patients for preventative care, decentralized check-in processes, and virtual waiting rooms.
