STEPHENVILLE (February 26, 2013) – Scott Butt, owner of Rustic Creations and full-time student at College of the North Atlantic in Stephenville, has been named Newfoundland and Labrador’s 2013 Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champion. Provincial Champions were named by national charitable organization, Enactus Canada and proud program supporter, the John Dobson Foundation as part of the Student Entrepreneur National Competition.
Butt received the title of Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champion because he balances the demands of a full time college course load with the pressure of running a company. His business, Rustic Creations is a furniture and art production company that offers a unique product, with the highest standards of quality.
“My business is based on the unique style and technique I have developed in my art and furniture work,” said Butt. “It has been my life’s passion now for several years and there is nothing else I can see myself doing in life but sharing my creative gifts.”
It is that kind of passion that makes an entrepreneur – and potentially a Student Entrepreneur Regional Champion.
Butt will showcase his business and his accomplishments as an entrepreneur at the Enactus Canada Regional Exposition – Atlantic Canada in Halifax on March 1st, where he will compete for the regional title.
“Scott is the epitome of a young entrepreneur because he has worked so hard to turn his passion into a profitable business,” explains Enactus Canada president Nicole Almond. “This entrepreneurial spirit is what built this country and what we want to encourage and celebrate in other student entrepreneurs across Canada.”
Butt will compete against three other Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champions from Atlantic Canada for the regional title and the chance to move on to the 2013 Enactus Canada National Exposition in Toronto, Ontario taking place on May 8th. The National Champion will receive a $10,000 cash prize and represent Canada at the international level of competition, the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards.
