Twelve post-secondary students, who balance a full-time course load and a business, have been selected as finalists and will pitch their businesses for a chance to win $10,000 through the Student Entrepreneur National Competition, proudly presented by HSBC Bank Canada. The competition will take place virtually in May 2020 through the Enactus Canada National Exposition.

Here are the 12 finalists:

  • Nevell Provo, owner of Smooth Meal Prep and student at Saint Mary’s University
    Smooth Meal Prep delivers nutritious and delicious, fitness-focused meals right to your door.
  • Alexandre Paré, owner of Streamline Athletes and student at Simon Fraser University
    Streamline Athletes is an online service that connects aspiring student-athletes & collegiate coaches.
  • Etienne Penelle, owner of Kool Apparel and student at the Université de Sherbrooke
    Kool Apparel is a Canadian clothing brand whose mission is to promote mental health awareness.
  • Alessandra Amato, owner of Algi and student at McGill University
    Algi is revolutionizing the food landscape by creating sustainable, nutrient rich, and great tasting products made with the world’s oldest and smallest superfood, algae.
  • Jean-Luc Martineau, owner of Bagsort and student at the University of Ottawa
    Bagsort is a luggage storage service that operates as a sharing economy concept. By partnering with existing local businesses, they offer safe and reliable luggage storage solutions in several cities.
  • John Dyall, owner of DYA and student at Memorial University of Newfoundland
    DYA is committed to providing consumers with environmentally friendly products that don’t compromise on convenience.
  • Jesse Ward, owner of Hope Cleaning Inc. and student at the University of Calgary
    Hope Cleaning is a residential and commercial cleaning service that employs Canadian newcomers and or individuals who have been subject to domestic abuse, exploitation or that live in low-income housing.
  • Blair Forrest, owner of AMZ Prep Canada LTD and student at Wilfrid Laurier University
    AMZ Prep Canada helps businesses sell their products on Amazon’s marketplace. They provide warehousing space and infrastructure for companies as well as sell the products to Amazon’s fulfillment center on their behalf.
  • Mubdu Alali, owner of Bloxo Inc and student at Saint Mary’s University
    Bloxo is an app that makes sport more accessible, by using technology to simplify the process of organizing and participating in recreational sport.
  • Lianna Genovese, owner of ImaginAble Solutions and student at McMaster University
    ImaginAble Solutions is a biomedical engineering company committed to enhancing the quality of life by providing solutions for individuals with accessibility issues.
  • Maddi Pond, owner of AMP it up Dance Studio and student at Mount Allison University
    AMP it up Dance Studio is a creative learning environment focused on bringing arts to the small town of Salisbury New Brunswick.
  • Roger Hull, owner of Carbon Crew and student at the University of Calgary
    Carbon Crew utilizes an employee’s expense reports to compute their carbon footprint. This footprint can then be reduced or offset by the employer with speed and low cost.
