The award presentation took place at the 2015 Enactus Canada National Exposition today in Toronto.

The team’s Lumifi Project used retro-fitted second hand routers to provide students in Jamaica, who have no access to the internet, with a virtual database of educational content using local mesh networks

“The Enactus program aligns perfectly with Tim Hortons’ commitment to promote making a true difference in communities across Canada”, says David Clanachan, President and Chief Operating Officer for Tim Hortons Canada. “It was inspiring to see the next generation of Canadian leaders take a holistic approach to making a difference in lives of people and in their local communities.”

The Tim Hortons Making a True Difference Project Partnership was designed to empower Enactus teams with the resources needed to identify, create and deliver projects that address the specific and unique needs and opportunities in their communities in a holistic way.

“We are proud to recognize the Enactus University of Toronto team for their work to empower youth,” said Nicole Almond, Enactus Canada president. “With the support of corporate partners like Tim Hortons, our students are demonstrating how change can be realized when people are committed to making a true difference.”
