MISSISSAUGA (March 14, 2013) – Kristy McLean, student at the University of Windsor, received the HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow Award for Central Canada from national charitable organization Enactus Canada and proud sponsor HSBC Bank Canada. The award presentation took place at the 2013 Enactus Canada Regional Exposition on March 11th in Mississauga.
McLean has been a key player in advancing the Enactus team at the University of Windsor. As vice-president, she has been involved in many of her Enactus team’s programs, including empowering social assistance recipients to become financial independent by starting their own new ventures, teaching entrepreneurship to students at local high schools and promoting environmental awareness by assisting an organization to divert over one million pounds of electronic waste.
“At HSBC we believe that the strongest leaders are developed over the long-term,” said Sandra Stuart, Chief Operating Officer, HSBC Bank Canada. “We are very pleased to support Enactus Canada’s exciting program focused on developing and nurturing the talents of Canada’s emerging female leaders.”
The HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow Award is designed to recognize, celebrate and honour female university and college students – on a regional and national level – who exemplify success and inspire their peers, community and country through entrepreneurial leadership.
“I am privileged to be a part of the Enactus network and am so proud of the work my team is doing in our community,” says McLean. “I am truly thrilled to be recognized as an HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow for Central Canada because of my role in that work.”
Kristy McLean is one of six regional award winners from across Canada who will travel to the 2013 Enactus Canada National Exposition taking place in Toronto in May in the hopes of being named the national 2013 HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow.
The top 50 award applicants from across the country will also be invited to attend the exclusive “HSBC Women’s Leadership Forum” to be held at the 2013 Enactus Canada National Exposition from May 6-8th in Toronto. This annual forum will bring together the top entrepreneurial female leaders of today and tomorrow to dialogue and find solutions to Canada’s social, economic and environmental issues.
