ColeMISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO (March 10, 2015) – Cole Jones, owner of Local Line and student at Wilfrid Laurier University, has been named Central Canada’s 2015 Student Entrepreneur Regional Champion. Regional Champions in Central Canada were named by this country’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and proud program supporter, the John Dobson Foundation as part of the Student Entrepreneur National Competition.

Jones received the title of Student Entrepreneur Regional Champion because of his ability to combine food and technology to help build a more sustainable food system for the future.  Local Line is an online platform that connects chefs with a “menu’s worth” of local food – and therefore local farmers – in their communities. This platform removes barriers for chefs such as multiple, time consuming and frustrating orders and invoices while connecting local farmers with businesses to consistently sell their products.

This title allows Cole Jones to showcase his business and personal accomplishments on the national stage at the Enactus Canada National Exposition in Toronto on May 12, 2015, where he will compete for the title of Student Entrepreneur National Champion.

“Cole is a big thinker, and because of that he has found a way to modernize an age old industry,” explains Enactus Canada president Nicole Almond. “This entrepreneurial spirit is what built this country and we want to encourage and celebrate this in young leaders across Canada.”

Jones will now compete against five other Student Entrepreneur Regional Champions from across Canada for the national title, a $10,000 cash prize and the John Dobson Cup.
