Wilfrid Laurier University Announced as the 2026 TD Entrepreneurship Challenge National Champion for Kuponya Innovations

In an exciting final round of competition, seven teams from postsecondary schools across Canada competed for the title of National Champion of the TD Entrepreneurship Challenge at Enactus Canada National Exposition on May 7. One team received top honours – Wilfrid Laurier University for Kuponya Innovations. 

Focused on addressing Canada’s housing crisis, Kuponya Innovations is creating a climate-resilient, house-in-a-box system. Kuponya aims to build seven homes in the next 12 months in Northern communities and a digital assembly guide to support onsite construction. 

Presented by TD Bank Group (TD), this challenge empowers Enactus teams to develop, implement, and deliver innovative projects that help teach relevant entrepreneurship skills

As National Champion, Enactus Wilfrid Laurier University will take home a prize of $3,000 to help further advance the social impact of their enterprise. Two other teams, were also recognized for their efforts with cash awards: 

  • Runner-Up (awarded $2,000): Saint Mary’s University – Gluten Free Living connects businesses selling gluten-free goods with their target market through gluten-free markets. 
  • Second Runner-Up (awarded $1,000): Simon Fraser University – SKYES offers a digital platform to teach youth and Nepal and the Philippines the fundamentals of entrepreneurship.  

“The support from TD enables Enactus Canada to provide 21 teams with the opportunity to further entrepreneurship in their communities. We are so grateful for TD’s long-standing support and commitment to helping advance entrepreneurship in Canada,” commented Anja Zeljkovic, Acting Director, Partnerships at Enactus Canada.  

A distinguished panel of judges made up of business and community leaders, selected the Wilfrid Laurier University as the National Champion. The seven finalists emerged from 39 regional teams with a total of $27,000 in funding awarded at Regional and National Competitions to help propel these entrepreneurial enterprises.
