Alaggi is an innovative biodegradable seaweed alternative to industrial plastic wrap. This is the second year in a row that Enactus Saint Mary’s University has won the National title in the Innovation & Impact Challenge, powered by Enactus Alumni. The announcement was made during Enactus Canada’s National Exposition, held in Montreal on May 7.
Alaagi received $3,000 to further their business venture from Enactus Alumni. With over 10 letters of intent from companies such as Sobeys and Highliner Food, Alaagi has also generated over $100,000 in start-up funding to help support the growth of their social enterprise.

The following teams received recognition as runners-up in the Challenge:
Runner-Up (awarded $2,000): Humber Polytechnic – ReShade transforms makeup waste into high-quality paint.
Second Runner-Up (awarded $1,000): Okanagan College – Paper Trail is a fire brick made from unrecyclable books and local beeswax.
Launched three years ago, the Innovation and Impact Challenge, powered by Enactus Alumni, brought together 49 teams to compete. With dozens of impact-driven ventures presented, Enactus students are demonstrating how the power of entrepreneurship is bringing real change across the country.
“This ongoing support from Alumni helps to build a pipeline of new ventures and funds innovation within the Enactus network. What alumni put into this challenge has a direct impact in the team’s ability to grow and scale,” said Anja Zeljkovic, Acting Director, Partnerships at Enactus Canada.
