(MONTREAL, QC) May 2, 2023 – A team of students from University of British Columbia – Vancouver are helping inspire and prepare the next generation of Indigenous entrepreneurs.

The Enactus University of British Columbia – Vancouver team won the 2023 HSBC Entrepreneurship Project Accelerator Best Project award and was recognized yesterday at the Enactus Canada National Exposition Opening Ceremony.

Building Bridges educates non-Indigenous youth about Indigenous history and empower them to take local action through social entrepreneurship. The program consists of four stages and modules, guiding students through project development while also teaching about reconciliation and decolonization.

“Entrepreneurship is on the rise in Canada and is driving economic growth,” says Caroline Tose, Chief Operation Office, HSBC Bank Canada. “Enactus University of British Columbia – Vancouver’s work is an inspiring example of how the next generation is poised to lead the way in building this future.”

The HSBC Entrepreneurship Project Accelerator, launched in 2018, is designed to empower Enactus teams with the resources needed to identify, create and deliver projects that empower aspiring and existing entrepreneurs to set up or grow their businesses through entrepreneurship training and support, and empower Canadians to develop employment skills.

The Enactus Canada National Exposition is an annual three-day event that unites hundreds of delegates including the country’s brightest university and college students, academic professionals, and top Canadian CEOs to enable progress by supporting entrepreneurial action through competition, recognition and education.
