If you start treating the interview as one of the most exciting aspects of job hunting, you’ll be able to relax and have a little fun. You may think interviewing is scary but if you have the right approach and bring the right attitude, it can actually be enjoyable to meet new people and find a company you like in the process!
Although there is no real formula that will automatically land you an interview, we have put together some helpful tips that will provide you with information to prepare you for your job interview. We want you to make a positive and lasting impression!
What is the best way to prepare for an interview?
Practice, practice, practice! Let’s be honest, Beyoncé did not get where she is today without thoroughly practicing and rehearsing. I strongly suggest rehearsing your examples in front of a mirror; this way you can automatically adjust your tone and body language.
What should you bring to an interview?
Apart from always having your resume handy, check with your recruiter if you need to bring any supplies such as a calculator for a case interview or your portfolio to showcase any of your work. It’s better to come prepared than not having anything at all!
What should you wear to an interview?
At Capital One we encourage our candidates to follow a business casual dress code, however, this might not be the case with other companies. Always check with your recruiter on the company’s dress code policy so that you can dress for success!
What is the best way for Enactus Students to highlight their Enactus experience in their interview?
Definitely incorporate examples from your experience volunteering and or participating in Enactus events during your interview. As a recruiter at Capital One, I understand that students may not have a whole lot of professional work experience, however, you do have a lot of group projects and extra-curricular activities that you can use as team work and leadership examples throughout the interview process.
