Université Laval Student Entrepreneur Named Provincial Champion

QUEBEC CITY (February 26, 2013) – Samuel Vincent Guay, owner of Selgo Inc. and full-time student at Université Laval, has been named Quebec’s 2013 Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champion. Provincial Champions were named by national charitable organization, Enactus Canada and proud program supporter, the John Dobson Foundation as part of the Student Entrepreneur National Competition.

Guay received the title of Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champion because he balances the demands of a full time university course load with the pressure of also running a company. His business, Selgo Inc., is primarily an incorporated management business. Through his management company, Guay acquired a sushi franchise called ‘’Aki Sushi’’, whose niche was carved through accessibility and specialized customer service.

“I decided to go into business because I’m born with the best example of an entrepreneur, my father,” said Guay. “When I fell on the opportunity to buy a sushi franchise at 19 years old, I jumped on it and I worked very hard to realize my dreams.”

Guay has a hero and a vision. It is that kind of perspective that makes an entrepreneur – and potentially a Student Entrepreneur Regional Champion. He is also very active in entrepreneurial activities on campus, serving as president of Laval’s entrepreneur student association, RÉEL (Regroupement des étudiants entrepreneurs de l’Université Laval).

Guay will showcase his business and his accomplishments as an entrepreneur at the Enactus Canada Regional Exposition – Central Canada in Mississauga on March 11th, where he will compete for the title of Regional Champion.

“Samuel is the epitome of a young entrepreneur because he is able to find opportunity within challenge,” explains Enactus Canada president Nicole Almond. “This entrepreneurial spirit is what built this country and is what we want to encourage and celebrate in other student entrepreneurs across Canada.”

Guay will compete against three other Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champions from Central Canada for the regional title and the chance to move on to the 2013 Enactus Canada National Exposition in Toronto, Ontario taking place on May 8th. The National Champion will receive a $10,000 cash prize and represent Canada at the international level of competition, the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards.
