Student Entrepreneur National Champion, Nick May, competes for international recognition and $100,000 top prize at Global Student Entrepreneur Awards in Washington, D.C.

 

Nick MayTORONTO, ON (November 18, 2013) – Young Canadian entrepreneur, Nick May, is heading to Washington, D.C. to compete for an international title at the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards from November 20th – 22nd.

May, owner of Remay and student at Carleton University, was named Canada’s Student Entrepreneur National Champion by Enactus in the spring of 2013. With the Canadian title under his belt, he now heads to Washington to take on the world’s top student entrepreneurs.

“Our national judges were incredibly impressed by Nick’s ingenuity and business savvy,” said Nicole Almond, Enactus Canada President. “Having invented a product and negotiated its sale in over 100 drug stores across Canada, Nick is set to become one of Canada’s top entrepreneurs.”

Nick May EnactusMay took home the Canadian title with his invention of a new shaving product for women, which is clean, easy to use and environmentally friendly. His creation also recently got him a deal on CBC’s Dragon’s Den.

“It is very exciting to be representing Canada’s young business community at a worldwide competition,” said May. “Working with Enactus and competing for National and Global Student Entrepreneur Awards, I have made so many connections that have opened doors for my business and increased exposure of my brand.”

The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEAs), an Entrepreneurs’ Organization program, is the premier international award for students who own and run businesses while attending college or university. The GSEAs bring global visibility to student business owners who are innovative, profitable and socially responsible.
