Calgary, Alberta (March, 16, 2015) – Acacia Schmietenknop, student at Thompson Rivers University, received the 2015 HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow award for Western Canada from this country’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and proud program supporter, HSBC Bank Canada. The award presentation took place at the 2015 Enactus Canada Regional Exposition on March 13 in Calgary.
The HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow award is designed to recognize, celebrate and honour female university and college students who exemplify success and inspire their peers, community and country through entrepreneurial leadership.
Acacia has been president of her Enactus team for the past two years, bringing her total years of Enactus involvement to five, which represents over 5,000 hours of volunteerism. During this time, she has created over 100 community partnerships, securing a combined $120,000 in monetary and in-kind donations for her Enactus team.
In addition to her Enactus work, she is actively involved in local politics, sits as a board member for two different organizations and acts as an ambassador for both her university and her city.

Acacia will join seven additional regional award winners from across Canada who will travel to the 2015 Enactus Canada National Exposition taking place in Toronto in May in the hopes of being named the national 2015 HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow.
The top 50 award applicants from across the country will also be invited to attend the exclusive HSBC Women’s Leadership Forum to be held at the 2015 Enactus Canada National Exposition. This annual forum will bring together the top entrepreneurial female leaders of today and tomorrow to encourage open dialogue, build leadership aptitude and establish connections amongst generations of top entrepreneurial female leaders.
