Young Canadian entrepreneur, Alex Maclean, is heading to Washington, D.C. to compete for the top prize at the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) from April 15-17th.
Maclean, a full-time student at Acadia University and owner of East Coast Lifestyle, was named Enactus Canada’s Student Entrepreneur National Champion in the spring of 2014. With the Canadian title under his belt, he now heads to Washington to take on 43 of the world’s top student entrepreneurs.
“Our Canadian judges were incredibly impressed by Alex’s passion for his industry and the extraordinary success he achieved in such a short time frame,” said Nicole Almond, Enactus Canada President. “His brand’s popularity, and resulting financial return, will no doubt impress the international judges as well.”
The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) is the premier international award for students who own and run businesses while attending college or university. The GSEAs bring global visibility to student business owners who are innovative, profitable and socially responsible.
“I’m so proud to be representing Canadian student entrepreneurs at a worldwide competition,” said Maclean. “Working with Enactus has helped me through my career so far and competing at the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards is a great way to lead to the next step in the business world.”
“Alex embodies Canada’s entrepreneurial spirit,” said Almond. “And Enactus Canada is always pleased to support talented student entrepreneurs across the country and shape generations of entrepreneurial leaders.”
