(TORONTO, ON) May 15, 2024 – Students from Enactus Saint Mary’s University have been named 2024 Innovation and Impact Challenge National Champions. The winning team was selected by Canada’s largest experiential learning platform, Enactus Canada and it’s dedicated network of alumni.

The team’s newest initiative, Plastarch Packaging, provides a bioplastic solution to single-use cutlery and packaging for environmentally conscious business owners without compromising durability and affordability.

“Enactus Canada students turn imagination into innovation, challenges into opportunities, and ideas into reality,” said Catherine Fowler, President and CEO of Enactus Canada. “Congratulations to our Innovation and Impact Challenge National Champions, Enactus Saint Mary’s University. Plastarch Packaging isn’t just thinking outside of the box, it has the potential to truly revolutionize the culinary world.”

New this year, the Innovation and Impact Challenge, powered by Enactus Alumni, is a national competition empowering Enactus teams to identify, create, and deliver projects that address real-world problems.

Student teams demonstrated their projects to panels of business executives today at the Enactus Canada National Exposition, taking place May 14-16 in Toronto, Ontario.

The annual three-day event unites hundreds of delegates – including the country’s brightest university and college students, academic professionals, and top Canadian CEOs to enable progress by supporting entrepreneurial action through competition, recognition, and education.
