Twelve finalists will win flights and accommodations to Toronto to compete for $10,000

TORONTO, ON (September 9, 2019) – If you run a business and are attending a Canadian university or college full-time, or you know someone who is, now’s the time to submit your nomination for the Enactus Student Entrepreneur National Competition, proudly presented by HSBC Bank Canada.

Twelve finalists will win flights and accommodations to attend the 2020 Enactus Canada National Exposition from May 19-21 in Toronto to pitch their business and compete for the $10,000 grand prize. The Student Entrepreneur National Runner-Up will receive $4,000, and the Second Runner-Up will receive a $2,000 cash prize.

The Student Entrepreneur National Competition, proudly presented by HSBC Bank Canada aims to help young business leaders network with like-minded students, showcase their venture to top executives and entrepreneurs, and accelerate the growth of their businesses.

Past competition winners include successful entrepreneurs, Jen Ger of Foxy Originals, a jewelry company, and Alex MacLean, founder of EastCoast Lifestyle, a clothing and lifestyle brand.

Ross Arsenault, owner of Ashored Inc. and full-time student at Saint Mary’s University, was named 2019 Student Entrepreneur National Champion. Ashored is focused on improving the sustainability of the commercial fishery through the development of user-friendly and purpose-built innovations. Nominations, including self-nominations, will be accepted at enactus.ca/student-entrepreneurs until Friday, November 22, 2019.

Further Information:

  • Be a full time undergraduate and/or graduate student at a Canadian university or college for the current academic year
  • Be a founder and have at least 25 per cent ownership of the company with no other individual or group with greater ownership, and be the individual primarily responsible for the business’ operation
  • Have not been a previous National Champion of this competition or competed in the final round of the Student Entrepreneur National Competition during the previous school year
