(TORONTO) May 10, 2022: Students at the University of Alberta launched Reworks, a textile recycling company, in an effort to reduce textile waste and educate people on the topic of sustainability.

Their efforts were recognized today at the 2022 Enactus Canada National Exposition Opening Ceremony, where Enactus University of Alberta won the Canadian Tire Sustainable Business Project Accelerator Best Project award for Reworks.

Reworks has had a definitive impact in Edmonton, from supporting homeless shelters by purchasing their used textiles, to working with the University of Alberta to replace and produce their campus clothing lines. This year, the team has directly impacted over 40 people, conserved over 2M litres of water, and diverted over 2,000 pounds of waste.
