CALGARY, ALBERTA (March 3, 2014) – Martyna Gatkiewicz, student at the University of Calgary, received the 2014 HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow Award for Western Canada from this country’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and proud program supporter, HSBC Bank Canada. The award presentation took place at the 2014 Enactus Canada Regional Exposition on February 28 in Calgary.
Martyna is president of her Enactus team and founder of a small high-end hosiery business. She led an existing student entrepreneurship project that helped participating students raise their business revenues by more than $100,000 and helped her team launch two projects – one that empowers immigrant women and another that supports athletes in procuring sponsorship dollars to continue their athletic journey. Beyond her role with Enactus, Martyna is Entrepreneurship Director for one of Canada’s largest angel investor organizations, VA Angels.

The HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow Award is designed to recognize, celebrate and honour female university and college students – on a regional and national level – who exemplify success and inspire their peers, community and country through entrepreneurial leadership.
Martyna is one of six regional award winners from across Canada who will travel to the 2014 Enactus Canada National Exposition taking place in Calgary in April in the hopes of being named the national 2014 HSBC Woman Leader of Tomorrow.
The top 50 award applicants from across the country will also be invited to attend the exclusive HSBC Women’s Leadership Forum to be held at the 2014 Enactus Canada National Exposition. This annual forum will bring together the top entrepreneurial female leaders of today and tomorrow to dialogue and find solutions to Canada’s social, economic and environmental issues.
