IMG_4703CALGARY, ALBERTA (March 3, 2014) – Steve Frederick, owner of Viewpoint Decking LTD. and full-time student at the University of Calgary has been named 2014 Student Entrepreneur Regional Champion for Western Canada by this country’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and proud program supporter, the John Dobson Foundation, as part of the Student Entrepreneur National Competition.

Steve received the title of Student Entrepreneur Regional Champion after beating out two other student entrepreneurs from across Western Canada at the Enactus Canada Regional Exposition on February 28 in Calgary.

A panel of local entrepreneurs and business leaders voted Steve regional champion for his accomplishments with his enterprise, Viewpoint Decking LTD., a Calgary-based corporation founded in 2010 specializing in retrofits and new construction of premium rolled vinyl exterior residential and commercial decks.

Started as a hobby company, Viewpoint has impressive sales and a commitment to quality and customer service that has led to the use of sustainably harvested Forest Stewardship Council Certified Batu Hardwood and the highest quality vinyl.

“Steve embodies the entrepreneurial spirit that built this country,” said Enactus Canada president Nicole Almond. “He has come a long way with his business and there is high potential for further growth.”

Steve will compete against five other Student Entrepreneur Regional Champions from across Canada for the national title at the 2014 Enactus Canada National Exposition in Calgary, Alberta taking place April 28-30. The National Champion will receive a $10,000 cash prize and take home the John Dobson Cup.
