(TORONTO) May 10, 2022: A group of students from the University of the Fraser Valley created a workshop-based program that bridges the financial education gap for high school, university and international students, including Canadian newcomers.

Enactus University of the Fraser Valley was awarded the 2022 PC Financial Resilience Project Accelerator Best Project title at the 2022 Enactus Canada National Exposition Opening Ceremony today for their project, The Big Brain Literacy Program (BBLP).

The team presented their workshops to 69 international students and their open educational resources were viewed 309 times, impacting 378 underserved youth this year alone.

“We’re proud to partner with Enactus to support and inspire entrepreneurial students to build resilient financial education programs to create a positive impact and help Canadians create the best life, and future that they can,” said Ian Hanning, SVP, Finance & CFO, PC Financial. “I have been involved in supporting Enactus for over 10 years and am continuously impressed by the students’ creativity in advancing economic and social impact in our communities.”

The PC Financial Resilience Project Accelerator is designed to empower Enactus teams with the resources needed to identify, create and deliver projects that advance equity by using financial education to build resilience in underserved populations (including but not limited to visible minorities, indigenous peoples, people with disabilities and/or women).

The Enactus Canada National Exposition unites hundreds of delegates including the country’s brightest university and college students, academic professionals and top Canadian CEOs to enable progress by supporting entrepreneurial action through competition, recognition and education.
