(TORONTO) 18 May 2020 – A team of students from the University of Windsor partnered with school boards to provide elementary and secondary school students a 10-week mentorship program and the tools to launch their own business.

The Enactus Windsor team won the 2020 HSBC Entrepreneurs Project Accelerator Best Project award and were recognized on May 15 through the 2020 Virtual Enactus Canada National Exposition Opening Ceremony.

Fifty-three sustainable businesses launched thanks to the support and mentorship provided through Enactus Windsor’s Youthrive.

“Fostering the entrepreneurial spirit of young Canadians is needed in securing long-term prosperity for the communities we serve,” says Kim Hallwood, Head of Corporate Sustainability, HSBC Bank Canada. “The Enactus University of Windsor team’s work sends an inspiring message that Canada’s future is in capable hands.”

Launched in 2018, the HSBC Entrepreneurs Project Accelerator is designed to give Enactus teams the resources needed to identify, create and deliver projects that empower aspiring and existing entrepreneurs and companies to set up or grow their business through training and support.

The Enactus Canada National Exposition unites 1,500 delegates including the country’s brightest university and college students, academic professionals and top Canadian CEOs to enable progress by supporting entrepreneurial action through competition, recognition and education.
