(TORONTO) 25 May 2020 – A group of students on the Enactus Wilfrid Laurier University (Waterloo) team have created a social enterprise that employs adults with developmental disabilities to develop package-free single-use, sustainable bathroom products for hotels and consumers.

Enactus Wilfrid Laurier University (Waterloo) has been named 2020 TD Entrepreneurship Challenge National Champions by Canada’s largest experiential learning platform, Enactus Canada, and program supporter TD Bank Group.

“Entrepreneurship plays an essential role in the long-term economic success and sustainability of our country,” said Nicole Almond, President of Enactus Canada. “This challenge helps us promote entrepreneurial growth across Canada.”

Through Enactus Wilfrid Laurier’s project, EarthSuds, the team has impacted over 3,400 people and created employment opportunities for over 10 people. EarthSuds has also diverted over 13,000 plastic bottles and saved over 12,000 litres of water.

“I’d like to congratulate this year’s champions of the TD Entrepreneurship Challenge,” says Andrea Barrack, Global Head, Sustainability and Corporate Citizenship, TD Bank Group. “As part of our corporate citizenship platform, the TD Ready Commitment, we are proud to support Enactus Canada in helping inspire a new generation of business leaders who are passionate about building a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow.
