Three Enactus teams will present on the global stage at Enactus World Cup, October 1-4, in Astana, Kazakhstan. We will be updating this story with competition viewing details and results as we receive updates from our Enactus Canada team in Astana.

Team Accesstructure will represent Canada in the Bentley Systems iTwin4Good Challenge on Tuesday, October 1. This collaborative team from Saint Mary’s University and Dalhousie University was named our National Champion in the category for using the iTwin Platform to address critical accessibility and sustainability issues on campuses across Canada. Watch the competition live here in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Enactus Saint Mary’s University will be on stage next on Thursday, October 3-4. They will present their winning project Square Roots, a community interest corporation that has been running for 8 years. This entrepreneurial success purchases cosmetically imperfect produce direct from local farmers and sells it back to the community at a discount. Making fresh, healthy produce available to those who need it most. We will post the link to watch the competition live in the coming days.

As the winners of the Innovation and Impact Challenge, presented by Enactus Alumni, Saint Mary’s University is also taking their newest innovations to the new Early Stage Competition at #EnactusWorldCup! Building on their first waste initiative, Square Roots, this group of innovators has taken it a step further and developed a fully bio-degradable bioplastic alternative to single-use plastic cutlery using potato starch. Their project has already been endorsed by a local restauranteur who has agreed to participate in the pilot. The team will compete on Friday, October 4 in the pitch competition.

We are so proud of the journey of all our teams and honoured to support the next generation of social entrepreneurs.

A huge thank you to Jeanne Sauvé Foundation for their support to bring the Canadian delegation to the Enactus World Cup.
