TORONTO, ONTARIO (May 2, 2016) – Five students from across Canada have received the 2016 Unilever Leaders for a Bright Future award by this country’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and proud supporter Unilever. The awards presentation took place at the 2016 Enactus Canada National Exposition today in Toronto.

The 2016 Unilever Leaders for a Bright Future are:

  • Emily Bland, Memorial University of Newfoundland
  • Benjamin Canning, Ryerson University
  • Tim Jubinville, Université de Sherbrooke
  • Ozzy Lang, Mount Royal University
  • Cedric Pepelea, St. Lawrence College

These five entrepreneurial and socially conscious student leaders were selected for their vision and leadership, their use of entrepreneurial action to improve the quality of life and standard of living of others as well as their ability to serve as a role model and inspire others.

“Enactus helps Unilever see the future and the strategic imperatives of the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan are an exciting lens through which Enactus teams bring us closer to a truly sustainable world,” said John Coyne, Vice President, Legal and External Affairs, Unilever Canada.

The Unilever Leaders for a Bright Future program is designed to recognize and celebrate Enactus students who have demonstrated the Unilever Standards of Leadership through their 2015-2016 Enactus journey.

“Celebrating and supporting young individuals empowers them to challenge the status quo and make positive change in their communities,” said Nicole Almond, Enactus Canada president. “Enactus is proud to partner with Unilever to shape generations of entrepreneurial leaders who work daily to impact the lives of people in their community for the better.”

The Unilever Leaders for a Bright Future awards were distributed at the 2016 Enactus Canada National Exposition, where more than 1,500 delegates including the country’s brightest university and college students, academic professionals and top Canadian CEOs came together to advance the economic, social and environmental health of Canada.
