ST. JOHN’S, NEWFOUNDLAND (February 16, 2016) – Ross Connolly, owner of Are Audio and student at Memorial University of Newfoundland has been named Enactus Canada’s 2016 Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champion for Newfoundland and Labrador. Provincial Champions coast to coast were named today by this country’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and proud program supporter, the John Dobson Foundation as part of the Student Entrepreneur National Competition.
Connolly received the title of Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champion because of the passion he has for his business.
Are Audio is a manufacturer of boutique high fidelity speakers, guitar cabinets and custom audio projects that are designed and hand-built in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
“I love being able to think up an idea, put it to paper, model the design, then build it by hand from raw materials,” said Connolly. “Speakers are not simply pieces of furniture designed for their aesthetics, but they’re beautiful pieces of art that breathe life into your living space by appealing to multiple senses.”
Connolly will showcase both his business and personal accomplishments as an entrepreneur at the Enactus Canada Regional Exposition – Atlantic Canada in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 26, where he will compete for the title of Student Entrepreneur Regional Champion.
“Canada has a long history of entrepreneurs who utilize beautiful craftsmanship,” said Enactus Canada president Nicole Almond. “We are proud to celebrate and support entrepreneurs like Ross through the Student Entrepreneur National Competition and give them a stage to showcase their business.”
Connolly will compete against three additional Student Entrepreneur Provincial Champions from Atlantic Canada for the regional title and the chance to move on to the 2016 Enactus Canada National Exposition in Toronto, Ontario taking place May 2-4. The National Champion will receive a $10,000 cash prize and take home the John Dobson Cup.
