Mount Royal University - Genworth Financial Literacy Project FundTORONTO, ON (May 6, 2013) – Mount Royal University has been awarded the 2013 Genworth Financial Literacy Project Fund Best Project by national charitable organization Enactus Canada and proud supporter Genworth Canada. The award presentation took place at the 2013 Enactus Canada National Exposition today in Toronto.

The Enactus team from Mount Royal University was victorious because of the impact they had on vulnerable women in their community.

The Mount Royal University project is was developed in partnership with a local non-profit that provided financial literacy and job skills to women who are victims of – or are at risk of – sexual exploitation. Through in-class workshops and one-on-one mentorship, this project has dramatically changed the lives of 15 women and their families.

“The Enactus program aligns perfectly with Genworth Canada’s commitment to promote financial literacy education”, says Linda Belanger, Community Relations Leader for Genworth Canada. “It was inspiring and encouraging to see the quality and creativity that stemmed from this year’s entries, each of which was presented with a high degree of passion and professionalism.”

The Genworth Financial Literacy Project Fund was designed to empower student teams with the skills and resources to strengthen the financial well-being of individuals and communities across Canada.
