(TORONTO) May 12, 2021: Danielle Walker, from Okanagan College was named the 2022 Student Leader of the Year by Canada’s largest student leadership development organization, Enactus Canada, and program partner, Canadian Tire Corporation Ltd.

Danielle got her start with Enactus OC when she took over the team’s award-winning CANSave program.  Danielle saw an opportunity to improve the project by creating modules for students on the autism spectrum – an opportunity inspired by the struggles faced by her own son.  Danielle single-handedly created financial literacy learning opportunities for students experiencing learning barriers, that are now in place in schools across Canada. It was because of her project contributions that she was eventually awarded the President role of Enactus Okanagan College for the 2021/2022 academic year.

As a consequence of Daniele’s significant efforts, the Enactus OC team grew by 300 percent over the course of her tenure as President.  Additionally, she worked with new students to help reestablish team strength on the four campuses that Enactus OC serves.

The Student Leader of the Year award is designed to recognize the leader/president who has made the most outstanding contribution to their Enactus team, supporting and advancing the team’s success. The award announcement took place at the 2022 Enactus Canada National Exposition.

“As one of Canada’s most trusted and iconic brands, we build teams that dream big and work as one to deliver world-class customer experiences. Enactus is doing the same through their programming, and we are proud to recognize Danielle Walker for their achievements,” said Jason Blanchette, Vice President, Portfolio Strategy and Enterprise Planning, Canadian Tire Corporation Ltd. “The Student Leader of the Year award that we support through Enactus is an extension of our commitment to supporting the next generation of leaders in Canada.”

“Great leaders inspire meaningful results,” said Enactus Canada president, Nicole Almond. “Danielle Walker embraces all of the qualities we hope to inspire across our network and in the generations to follow. Congratulations!”
